October 31, 2024 Update:
|
The Florida Podiatric Medical Society (FPMS), through a funding initiative request care of the Florida Senate and House of Representatives, instituted a diabetic shoe awareness program for fiscal year 2023 - 2024. The primary goal of the diabetic shoe awareness program is to provide education to the public on the importance of diabetic foot care and provide diabetic shoes and socks to Florida's most vulnerable residents. The program will prioritize the elderly, people with poor physical health, individuals who are economically disadvantaged, and the physically disabled.
Diabetic shoes help prevent strain, ulcerations, and calluses on the feet. This unique program will directly address issues that lead to further complications to the medical system.
DSR Consulting & Management, LLC is assisting FPMA with this project.
FPMA is seeking healthcare clinics, podiatrists, and diabetes program managers to assist with diabetic shoe distribution. Should you have patients that qualify and you wish to participate, please complete the provider survey at the following link: https://solecareoutreach.com/join-the-network
