Charlotte Component Participates in CCMS Physicians' Health Expo

Members of the FPMA Charlotte component participated in the 7th annual Charlotte County Medical Society (CCMS) Physicians' Health Expo, which was held on February 29, 2012 at the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center in Punta Gorda. The event, which was free and open to the public, gave attendees a chance to participate in numerous health screenings as well as attend physician lectures on various topics of medical interest.

Dr. Andre Williams, Charlotte Component President, gave a speech about "Common Foot Problems" during the Expo. Dr. Arlo Yaege and Dr. Samir Vakil spoke about "Diabetic Footcare" and "Foot & Ankle Surgeries" (respectively) on a local radio station. Dr. Yaege and Dr. Williams performed foot screenings during the Expo, and were also joined by Dr. Stephen Petrofsky. The event was well attended by the community.

Broward Component Volunteers at A1A Marathon

The FPMA Broward component served as a sponsor of the Ft. Lauderdale A1A Marathon, which was held on February 19, 2012 along Ft. Lauderdale beach. Dr. Diana Rogers led three podiatry residents from Westside Regional Hospital in volunteering in the medical tent. Dr. Rogers and the podiatry residents treated numerous blisters and foot problems as well as playing an integral part with the medical team treating dehydration, heat exhaustion, and numerous medical emergencies. The Podiatrists worked hand in hand with the medical students from Florida International University and the EMS staff to treat many runners.

We appreciate Dr. Rogers and the Westside residents for giving up their Sunday morning and representing Broward podiatric physicians.
